I'm from Belo Horizonte, a brazilian city, and was born in 1973.

My art learning began very early, in a self-taught way. I gathered all the information and books I could to understand the basics about the illustration art. In particular, I was always attracted by comics specially the horror stories that we had aplenty here in Brazil.

I started working with book illustration part time in 1993, doing comic
strips and commercial illustrations for companies. That allowed me to get
contact to the printing systems, as well as several publishing processes. It also made me learn how to draw, ink and color my own work.

In 1997, after doing tests through an agency in Brazil, I got my first close
contact with the American Comics Industry, through a Comic Convention that took place in my town. There were big names as Luke Ross, Serpieri and the great Will Eisner. This was a crucial point in my carrier, when I got to talk to Eisner and get some feedback about my work.

In 1999 I joined the Glass House Graphics Agency, and start getting little assignments on the american market. That helped me a lot, getting feedback from David Campiti, who is a great comics guru. After studying and developing my art for about 2 years, I got my first regular job as an inker
on Buffy the Vampire Slayer Dark Horse. After that, I got all sorts of inking jobs: Angel, Scorpion King, Lady Death, Super Man among a lot others.

Although I was pretty comfortable doing inks, I always wanted to put my pencils into work, and whenever I got the chance, and the time frame allowed, I would take small pencil works, just to get familiar with the media. After a while, I got my first gig as penciler doing pinups for Teen Titans. After that, I started getting more and more pencil work, and never stopped ever since. Elektra, Outsiders, Emma Frost, Witches, She Hulk, Star Wars, Red Sonja, Freshmen, Serenity, Conan, Kull, among a lot others are some of the titles I worked in. I¹ve also done some special projects, like the ³Who wants to be a Superhero² where I got to work with Stan Lee.

In terms of reference, I have some notable influences in terms of line and behavior. Some of them are more distinctive: Will Eisner, John Buscema, Barry Smith, Mark Shultz, Frazetta... There¹re so many masters that I always looked up to.

There¹re also more contemporary talents that I consider examples: Alan Davis, Alex Ross, Mark Silvestry... One of my favorite artist in activity, and certainly one of my best friends, is undoubtedly Mike Deodato. His art is superb, and his professional behavior is an inspiration to anyone wishing to follow the trade. Of course we always have great laughs every time we meet, but that is another story :)

After 8 years working almost exclusively with the american market, I still have a lot I expect to accomplish and learn. It¹s a bless having the chance to work with something you love and care.
